Is sawing through the sternum in cardiac surgery a thing of the past?

The classic or conventional method of surgical intervention is through open-heart surgery in which the sternum must be completely sawed through to reach the heart using a heart-lung machine. But the future is minimally invasive: sawing open the sternum will eventually be a thing of the past everywhere.
